Tonight I watched an interesting Cavuto video from foxnews.com that dealt with the Keven Smith/Southwest Airlines controversy:
First, I find it disturbing that Mr. Karolchyk thinks it is acceptable to use hatred to market his Gym. If one looks back in history, one can see example after example of this type of hate mongering and its effect on society. Humanity seems to be constantly on the lookout for a good scapegoat and Mr. Karolchyk is using this tendency to drive the like-mineded to his gym.
On a more civilized note: I think that Southwest Airlines completely fubared the situation by refering to the issue as one of weight. It isn't about weight, it is about spread. What Southwest needs to do is to say that the maximum posterior spread ("spread" defined as the measurement of the person's posterior at its widest point while the person is seated on a hard surface) allowed is such-and-such inches and that persons exceeding this measurement are subject to removal from the plane. This has nothing to do with weight, but it has everything to do with how much room a person takes up in a plane.
The people at Southwest Airlines need to take a moment to realize that they are dealing with people, not cattle, and treating them as paying customers who have feelings. There is hope for Southwest. Mr. Karolchyk...not so much, I'm afraid.
